ELEKTRA
ELECTRA
REŽISER IN AVTOR PRIREDBE / DIRECTOR AND AUTHOR OF ADAPTATION: JAŠA KOCELI
NACIONALINIS KAUNO DRAMOS TEATRAS, LITVA / LITHUANIA
2020

An early idea of a bathroom as the space of happening was the fundation for further development of the visual language and special concept for this interpretation of Elektra. After reserching diffrent materials (mostly ceramics and stone) we found marble to be the most intriging for its dramatic, exuberant patterns and expression of prestige. The impression of veins on marble surfface changes significantly in diffrent light conditions. In monochrome or dark ambiences the contrast between base white color and dark veins enhances, while bright white light reduces it. This effect changes the character of the performance space. On one hand, it can be interpreted as a space of isolation, reclusion, mourning, aggression and on the other, as a space of intimacy, rituality, cleanliness, catharsis. Scenography is designed as simple, open , minimalistic performance space enabling diverse, dinamic mizanscenes and range of diffrent atmospheres.
